The BC Public Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scaling Officer - Interior to join our team in the Ministry of Forests. This is a pivotal position responsible for leading and supervising the Interior District Scaling Program.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the Interior District Scaling Program, ensuring compliance with the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and provincial guidelines.
- Determine the value of local timber, utilizing exceptional analytical reasoning and sound judgment.
- Engage with industry clients, external agencies, and management, utilizing strong communication skills.
- Enjoy significant field time in the vibrant Northeast region, working in a dynamic environment.
- Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year experience with Microsoft Office (excel, word, email etc) or equivalent.
- Valid Interior Scaler licence with required endorsements.
- Minimum of 5 years of related Interior and/or Coastal scaling operational experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of recent experience working in the field.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions, in remote areas, and withstand the rigours of fieldwork.
