The Team
The Integrated Collaborative Permanency Teams in the region are dedicated groups focused on creating positive outcomes for children. These teams consist of experienced professionals and new members who are committed to ensuring that every child is safe, stable, and has a clear plan for their future. The collaboration with other local Ministry Office service delivery teams fosters an environment of connection, reliability, and kindness, allowing for a supportive workplace where all members can thrive and contribute to meaningful change.

The Role
The positions available are primarily responsible for Guardianship duties, with additional responsibilities in Resource and Out of Care functions as needed. In this capacity, you will play a crucial role in developing and overseeing comprehensive care plans for children, ensuring their safety, stability, and overall well-being. You will also work closely with caregivers to facilitate children's transitions into care, support their placements, and uphold their rights while celebrating their milestones. This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of children while enjoying the vibrant community and outdoor activities available in the area. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities to engage with local communities and make a lasting difference.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements


Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work OR Child and Youth Care OR Master of Education in Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered; OR A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
2. Expanded Credentials:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor's Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services OR Master's level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor's Degree.
  • PLUS, a minimum of two years of recent related OR job-specific work experience.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
    • NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ( ICES ). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • Experience working as a Social Worker carrying a Guardianship and/or Resource caseload.
  • Who currently hold, previously held and/or are immediately eligible for C3 or C4 delegation under Child, Family and Community Service Act.
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families, and communities.
  • Applicants possessing SAFE home study certification and experience and Resource and Payment (RAP) experience and /or training.
  • Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
There are two (2) positions available. One (1) in Dawson Creek and one (1) in Fort St. John.
