About the Role

The BC Public Service is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scaling Officer to lead and supervise the Interior District Scaling Program. This critical role involves determining the value of local timber while adhering to the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and provincial guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the Interior District Scaling Program
  • Determine the value of local timber in accordance with Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and provincial guidelines
  • Engage with industry clients, external agencies, and management to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Work in a dynamic environment with a focus on safety and community engagement
Requirements
  • Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, email, etc.) or equivalent
  • Valid Interior Scaler license with required endorsements
  • Minimum of 5 years of related Interior and/or Coastal scaling operational experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent experience working in the field
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions, in remote areas, and withstand the rigors of fieldwork
