Scaling Officer

The Scaling Officer - Interior is a pivotal position within the Ministry of Forests, responsible for leading and supervising the Interior District Scaling Program. This role involves determining the value of local timber while adhering to the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and provincial guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the Interior District Scaling Program
- Determine the value of local timber
- Adhere to the Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and provincial guidelines
- Engage with industry clients, external agencies, and management
- Enjoy significant field time in the Northeast region
- Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience with Microsoft Office (excel, word, email etc) or equivalent
- Valid Interior Scaler licence with required endorsements
- Minimum of 5 years of related Interior and/or Coastal scaling operational experience
- Minimum of 5 years of recent experience working in the field
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions, in remote areas, and withstand the rigours of fieldwork
