We are currently in search of a qualified Senior Project Cost Engineer / Specialist to enhance our team, ideally based in either Toronto, Mississauga, or Calgary.
This role necessitates site travel approximately 5 to 10 days each month.
The Project Cost Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring that projects are executed in a controlled manner while minimizing costs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting performance monitoring and control functions in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintaining cost budgets and accurate forecasts, utilizing a change management system, and monitoring project status.
- Performing ongoing cost data and cash flow analysis.
- Supporting specific project codes of accounts and recommending necessary modifications.
- Maintaining field quantity unit rate reports and monitoring performance metrics.
- Overseeing the progress of field contractors.
- Assisting in the preparation of cost data for proposals and contract negotiations.
- Coordinating the project cost change management system.
- Maintaining the project job hour control system.
- Assisting with project financial reporting as per company and client requirements.
- Evaluating study results and providing recommendations for project team discussions.
- Identifying data sources and techniques for data acquisition.
- Coordinating the performance of pricing structure development and application.
- Assisting the estimating team in defining scope requirements.
- Preparing cost reconciliations and performing data analysis to identify issues and propose solutions.
Qualifications include:
- An Engineering or Business degree and/or relevant qualifications in Planning/Scheduling, Project Controls, and Project Management.
- Experience in a Project Controls related field with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience in quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and understanding technical processes.
- Familiarity with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes.
- Knowledge of Project Codes of Accounts (COA).
- Understanding of cost/financial reporting systems and analysis.
- Proficiency in project controls software such as EcoSys, Primavera P6, SAP, and Oracle.
- Knowledge of cost control interfaces with project planning and scheduling.
