Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Business Unit Director to lead our Buildings Engineering team in Canada. As a key member of our Places Business Area, you will be responsible for implementing our strategy, building strong relationships with clients, and creating successful teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategy Implementation
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence, and profitable growth within the unit.
  • Lead the business unit with ultimate accountability for P&L performance and service quality delivery.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting, setting objectives, and reviewing performance.
  • Develop and implement the business plan for the unit and ensure the team understands it.
Client Relationships
  • Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Coach and mentor discipline managers and service managers to ensure all projects are set up for success.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify and target clients through the delivery of service excellence to deliver growth in organic revenue in the business unit.
  • Lead the identification of talent in the business unit and promote career development.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in leadership and business development, with a proven track record of delivering results in a professional services firm. You will also need to have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization, and a high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience: You should be a licensed Professional Engineer or Architect in Canada and have at least 10+ years of experience leading and growing a significant business function within a professional services firm.

You will have a high level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility. You will bring excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate at all levels of the organization in particular senior levels. You are an excellent communicator and skilled at building relationships. You have the technical knowledge to recognize and manage risk in running a design-led Business Unit. In addition, you have well-developed commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the industry and demonstrated entrepreneurial behavior.
