Job Title: Manager, Laboratory Operations

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Laboratory Operations to join our team at Dynacare. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation and management of the laboratory department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the scientific and technical functioning of the laboratory
  • Ensure that appropriate methodology and equipment are in place
  • Review quality control and proficiency testing, recommending corrective action where necessary
  • Develop, modify, implement, and communicate department-related policies, procedures, and manuals
  • Provide assistance and counseling to employees on the interpretation and administration of department-related policies and procedures
  • Identify, prioritize, and develop annual department budget needs
  • Monitor supplies and orders routine stock as required
  • Oversee inventory activity and assist in resolving issues
  • Recruit, select, place, perform management, counseling, and selection for department positions
  • Ensure each employee receives proper instruction and safety training for each job assigned
  • Operate the department, including scheduling, training, and orientation of staff
  • Develop, recommend, and/or deliver training and development initiatives for all department staff

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of previous managerial experience in a clinical environment
  • BSc in Biochemistry or certified Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Knowledge of managerial leadership systems and continuous improvement practices
  • Understanding of business and operational planning, including resource allocation and best practice customer service techniques
