Job Description:

This role involves business development within the private sector, focusing on developing the company's growth strategy, pricing strategy, and long-term customer relationships. The ideal candidate will have a well-established network across North America and be able to proactively seek research and development grants, as well as develop effective Request for Proposals (RFP) strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop projects in collaboration with the private sector, leveraging expertise in energy system optimization models.
  2. Search for grant opportunities for R&D projects, identifying potential funding sources and developing a strategy to secure funding.
  3. Screen incoming RFPs, define a decision process to bid or not, and develop strategies to win, utilizing business development and consulting expertise.
  4. Participate in the preparation of proposals for R&D and consulting projects, ensuring alignment with the company's growth strategy.
  5. Contribute to refining and implementing the company's strategy, including product development and market expansion.
  6. Develop and implement a pricing strategy that balances revenue goals with customer needs.
  7. Manage long-term relationships with existing and new clients, building trust and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  8. Prepare marketing materials, including social media content and website updates, to promote the company's services and expertise.
  9. Identify and attend relevant conferences, networking events, and industry meetings to establish the company's presence and build relationships.
  10. Enter into contests and competitions to win product or business-related prizes, enhancing the company's reputation and visibility.
  11. Identify and prioritize next staffing needs, ensuring the company has the necessary resources to achieve its growth goals.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a technical background combined with a strong sense of business and marketing, with at least 10 years of experience in a similar role. They will be able to negotiate and make the case for selling higher quality products at higher prices, and have excellent self-presentation and communication skills. Fluency in English is required, with French being an asset.

Work Conditions:

The company offers a competitive yearly base salary and bonus, as well as a pension plan and health insurance. There is also an opportunity for profit-sharing on a long-term basis. The work schedule is full-time, with flexible hours, and the company is based in Montreal with a hybrid office/remote formula.
