Project Overview:

The Institute for Performance and Learning operates within a collaborative framework, working closely with client organizations on significant projects. The scope of these initiatives includes comprehensive design, construction, and operational management of critical systems.

Job Summary:

This managerial position necessitates effective interaction across the entire project team, fostering relationships, understanding training and development needs, and strategizing solutions. The ideal candidate will possess credibility with senior leadership and the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels. Responsibilities include overseeing the training coordinator's activities and navigating a complex organizational structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs and implements Learning and Development (L&D) strategies to enhance project outcomes, monitoring progress and recommending adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborates with department heads to identify training requirements and develops tailored solutions, including managing on-site instructor-led training.
  • Creates and delivers training programs for various levels of staff, ensuring materials are up-to-date and effective.
  • Facilitates necessary training sessions, maintaining awareness of industry trends and training methodologies.
  • Submits recommendations for new or revised training programs to address specific L&D needs and oversees their implementation.
  • Regularly reviews and updates training procedures to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Manages the training matrix and calendar, coordinating with the training coordinator.
  • Establishes a tracking system for training attendance and maintains individual training logs.
  • Engages with functional leads to refresh training requirements periodically.
  • Produces comprehensive reports on training activities and outcomes.
  • Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the training program.
  • Implements a competency framework for the project.
  • Supervises the training coordinator's work and presents program performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field, along with 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of learning and development processes and best practices.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizational structures.
  • In-depth understanding of various training methodologies and industry practices.
  • Familiarity with the operations of the engineering and construction sectors.
  • Experience in Human Resources disciplines, particularly in Training & Development.
  • Ability to independently conceptualize and develop effective L&D programs.
  • Experience in rail or transportation sectors is advantageous.
  • Proficient in preparing and delivering training materials and reports.
