Position Title: Business Analyst Consultant, Savings & Retirement (S&R)
Reports To: Director, Digital Experience
Department: Savings and Retirement
Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangement: This role offers a hybrid work model. You will be required to work in our office a minimum of two consecutive days every other week, in addition to one assigned day each month. You are encouraged to utilize the office more frequently, and some roles may necessitate more in-office presence.

Role Overview: The Business Analyst Consultant will serve as the primary contact between the Savings & Retirement department and IT partners for significant technology projects. A strong background in IT project management and analytical skills, particularly in data analysis, is essential for identifying technological solutions to business challenges.

This position will focus on high-complexity projects and will typically be the sole Business Analyst assigned to these initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead comprehensive requirements analysis, identifying optimal solutions to fulfill business objectives.
  • Evaluate IT project estimates and determine the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) necessary to achieve business benefits while balancing costs and timelines.
  • Conduct strategic planning through feasibility studies and business case development.
  • Consult with management regarding business needs, stakeholder requirements, and operational efficiency, proposing solutions for process enhancements.
  • Document requirements and facilitate review sessions with business sponsors, stakeholders, and IT partners, covering functional, non-functional, and user story requirements.
  • Engage in technical analysis meetings and support Systems Analysts in developing functional specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and IT resources to advocate for business interests and ensure user satisfaction.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance Analysts to develop a test strategy that mitigates business risks.
  • Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing, including planning, test case development, execution, and consideration of automated testing methods.
  • Assist in creating user documentation, instructions, and procedures.
  • Support post-implementation testing to ensure comprehensive user testing and prevent production issues.
  • Identify and escalate project risks and issues as necessary.
  • Develop and implement a Process Redesign plan, guiding the business through effective change management.
  • Provide mentorship and training for Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers at all levels.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, reporting, and issue tracking for non-IT projects.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lead Business Analyst or Systems Analyst on large IT projects within the financial services or insurance sectors.
  • Strong expertise in Process Redesign, including data modeling, transaction flow analysis, and risk assessment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Business Analysis processes, tools, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing and mentoring Business Analysts and User Acceptance Testers.
  • Proven track record in creating and implementing training programs.
  • Ability to draft business cases, project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Strong understanding of systems development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with agile development practices and product ownership.
  • Experience in developing non-functional requirements such as application performance and scalability.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex issues.
  • Exceptional documentation and presentation skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, complemented by project management skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and exercise judgment in a dynamic environment.
  • Business Analyst Certification or substantial prior experience in a BA role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Visio, and HP ALM/Quality Center.
  • Familiarity with Test Automation Tools is an asset.
