Description:
The Supervisor plays a crucial role in leading, organizing, and directing all personnel and operations within the Staffing Office (SO). This position is essential for ensuring a seamless and effective scheduling service for various departments within Alberta Health Services. Responsibilities include managing SO resources from both an organizational and financial perspective, which encompasses identifying staffing requirements, overseeing recruitment processes, conducting audits, and managing performance evaluations, including potential terminations when necessary.
The Supervisor acts as the primary liaison between department managers and the SO, collaborating closely with Medical Affairs to efficiently manage healthcare provider schedules. This role also involves providing expert guidance on best practices for scheduling and ensuring the consistent application of staffing procedures across the organization.
Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for promoting adherence to collective agreements related to the scheduling service staff and will work in partnership with the HR department to assist both the SO and managers in comprehending and implementing changes to the collective agreements.
Required Qualifications:Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of supervisory and managerial experience, ideally within the healthcare sector. A solid background in a healthcare-related environment is essential, with prior experience in staff scheduling and scheduling provisions being critical. A comprehensive understanding of regulatory legislation, AHS policies and procedures, collective agreement interpretations, and payroll practices is necessary. Proficiency in tools such as e-People, RMS, ESP, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams, along with experience in developing and implementing work rotations and plans, is required. Training in provincial guidelines for staff scheduling and staffing services for team lead or equivalent roles is also necessary.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential. Candidates should demonstrate self-direction and possess exceptional judgment and decision-making capabilities. Effective leadership, interpersonal, and team-building skills are vital, along with the ability to interact successfully with staff and leadership at various levels. A commitment to customer satisfaction is crucial, and candidates must be capable of training new employees. Knowledge of a Business As Usual (BAU) staffing model is essential.
Preferred Qualifications:A baccalaureate degree in a health-related field, Business Administration, or Education is highly recommended.
