This role is perfect for an intermediate HSE/HR person who wants “a seat at the table,” to really be able to affect change and make the position their own. You will be developing the HSE and HR function, from the ground up, with the support of experienced professionals from our sister company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is a people person, while still being highly detail oriented and that has demonstrable experience in creating and/or implementing HR and HSE programs.

This position is a Monday to Friday, day shift, with a starting annual salary of $80,000 to $90,000 dependent on experience.

**_Key Responsibilities_***:

- Develop and implement health, safety, and environment components to improve AERP’s HSE program
- Lead performance management program implementation, assist managers and supervisors where necessary, and monitor to ensure compliance and timeliness going forward
- Once up and running, provide ongoing coaching support for both managers and employees ensuring consistent approach to performance management activities
- Design and implement onboarding program, with consistent materials and training for managers or supervisors for presentation to new employees
- Work closely with managers and employees to reduce risks and injuries, manage modified work agreements and active WCB claims
- Work and assist in managing disability claims
- Assist in development of proper employment files and documentation, and setting processes to continue with same
- Communicating changes in Employment standards or legislative changes throughout management, executive or staff as determined to be necessary
- Develop formalized safety, incident tracking, reporting, and communication program
- Maintain and manage relevant H&S documents and records by building out the Company’s electronic HSE data management system and uploading and updating collected data
- Initiate weekly/monthly HSE activities to engage employees in HSE program
- Maintain all communication boards
- Track employee training requirements
- Manage annual audit activities
- Manage the formal task hazard assessment process
- Other assigned duties may be required

**_Education/Experience_***:

- 5 years prior experience in a similar role
- Occupational Health and Safety certificate from a recognized institution or an HSA/NCSO designation would be considered an asset
- Knowledge of Alberta Human Rights, Employment Standards, PIPA, WCB legislation and any other relevant legislation
- Prior experience developing and auditing safety programs in alignment with MHSA COR compliance
- Prior experience with SafetySync/WorkHub would be considered an asset
