**Reports to: Manager, Durham Humanitarian Response Project**

**Hours of work: Rotating 8-Hour shifts between 7:00 a.m and 11:00 p.m**

**Job purpose**

Using Trauma-informed and Gender-Equity approaches, the Resettlement and Integration Engagement Worker is responsible for assessing the needs of asylum claimants and temporary resident individuals and families, providing case management, information, and referrals, and following up to help them resettle and navigate services in Durham.

The Resettlement and Integration Engagement Worker will also update the client database, promote the Durham Humanitarian Response Project's services, conduct outreach activities, and coordinate information sessions and presentations on education, employment, health and housing-related topics for eligible clients.

**Resettlement Services**:

- Conduct holistic client intake, assessment, and case management services, utilizing client-centred, anti-oppression, anti-racism, trauma-informed, gender equity, and strength-based approaches to determine client needs and refer them to appropriate supports and community services.
- Provide clients with accurate information that addresses their immigration, financial, social, educational, recreational, etc., needs to support their resettlement journey in Canada.Organize the Executive Director's calendar.
- Provide client with culturally-sensitive resources to aid in their transition, such as crisis intervention, referral services for counselling or referrals for translation services.
- Keep client case notes up to date with services used and clients’ interactions with other service providers to better cater to clients' needs.
- Maintain client files, ensuring confidentiality.

**Presentations and Information Sessions**
- Plan a diverse range of presentations and information sessions tailored to the needs and interests of asylum claimants and temporary resident individuals and families, ensuring cultural sensitivity and inclusivity.
- Research and partner with community agencies to facilitate presentations in a large group setting on topics such as settlement, rights and responsibilities as a citizen, housing, financial aid, education, and general living services, including health and public transportation.
- Effectively advertise the presentations, information sessions and other activities to the newcomer community through various communication channels, such as flyers, newsletters, and other promotional materials.
- Coordinate with community partners to deliver all the information sessions at three hotel sites.
- Navigate, build and maintain positive relationships with multiple existing stakeholders and establish new relationships with various public, private and non-profit stakeholders to create a comprehensive presentation rooster.
- Collaborate and engage with community members and local agencies to promote CDCD’s programs and services.
- Liaise with Durham Social Service sector stakeholders to promote project awareness and strengthen existing partnerships.
- Ensure program activities, presentations and information sessions comply with social and employment laws, such as the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Evaluate the success of events and activities through attendee feedback, attendance numbers, and other metrics, and use findings to improve and refine future event planning efforts continually.

**Program-related duties**:

- Participate in the design, implementation and evaluation of the Durham Humanitarian Response Project to meet identified needs.
- Attend and support internal and/or external meetings and events where applicable.
- Represent CDCD at various internal and external meetings, presentations, and events in a way that positively reflects on the agency.
- Participate in promoting a positive workplace culture through agency committee membership and departmental activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Post-secondary education in Social Services or a related area of study
- 3+ years of working experience in settlement services
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset
- Superior communication skills, oral and written proficiency in English
- Current and up-to-date knowledge of social services and social laws
- Experience working with the Welcome Centre Immigrant Services is a definite asset
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to multicultural communities
- Knowledge of gender-based violence, anti-oppression principles and trauma-informed approaches
- Demonstrated ability to understand, map, and improve workflow and processes
- Responds to stressful situations in a calm, collected and professional manner
