**This position is responsible for programs and services for women, many of whom have experienced violence and trauma perpetrated predominantly by men. The position is therefore only open to female applicants and is an exception to the British Columbia Human Rights Code as permitted by Section 13(4) of the Code.**

This house provides communal living for up to seven single women (the house is unable to accommodate children) who through a variety of life circumstances have experienced or are experiencing trauma, poverty and/or health issues and/ or issues related to addiction and are at risk of homelessness. This multifaceted position supports women living in physical, emotional, spiritual and social poverty, through compassion, empowerment, love and respect.

The Program Manager is responsible for maintaining a culture of compassion and care in a clean, safe, secure, drug and alcohol-free environment. The Program Manager works closely and directly with program participants as they transition from homelessness, poverty and addiction, to family and community; housed, healthy and free from addictive lifestyles.

Some of the women may stay a couple of years while they move towards independence. Others will have shorter stays. The length of stay depends on the rehabilitative period required. Once clients reach a stage in their rehabilitation where they can live independently, Anawim will assist them in their search for permanent housing options.

This position will create a warm and supportive communal living environment, using conflict mediation and resolution skills as well as crisis intervention. The position will facilitate connection between program participants and staff as well as counselling and other professionals as needed. The position is also staff leader and house administrator.

The position is particularly suited for a woman experienced in delivering women’s community social services who wants to work with a small group in a communal living environment where the women are individually and collectively working towards their long-term goals.

This position reports to the Executive Director. This is not a remote position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engages directly with program participants to develop and achieve their plans to move out of physical, emotional, spiritual or social poverty; supports program participants in a way that promotes self-determination and the health of the communal-living environment in the House; and ensures the provision of additional help, care, and counselling, as needed.
