**Schedule**: 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday - Friday (75 hours bi-weekly)

**Compensation**: $29.42 - 32.57/hr; commensurate with experience

**Primary Objectives**:
As a key member of the Human Resources Team, the HR Generalist contributes to the realization of department and organizational goals by:

- Supporting the development and implementation of human resource management strategies, policies, and procedures, including ensuring all human resource practices reflect best practices within the sector as well as compliance with Employment Standards and the Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Fostering positive workplace culture by supporting training, development, labour & employee relations, and performance management processes,
- coordinating performance reviews and/or drafting and administering performance management documents in partnership with managers as needed.
- conducting exit interviews and responding to requests for verification of employment
- coordinating and organizing training for various departments; including tracking and maintaining employee training records and training status;
- maintaining HRIS including recording new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, and scheduling changes while ensuring compliance to time and attendance policies
- performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits and leave, talent acquisition, investigations, and occupational health and safety
- acting as a backup for payroll processing to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time
- assisting the Human Resources Manager or Director in special projects as required.

**Requirements**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited program with a speciality in human resources, public administration, or a related field.
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) accreditation is an asset.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of three (3) years' progressively responsible administrative experience including at least one (1) year in human resource management.
- Previous experience with payroll administration an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with administering HR programs, policies, and procedures and in planning recruitment, performance management, training, compensation, and/or benefits.
- Experience in a non-profit or unionized environment is desirable.
- Previous experience in administering an HRIS; experience with ADP is desirable.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
- Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and Talent Management Systems.

**Additional Criteria for Role**:

- Completion of a Criminal Record Check is required before employment commences.
