**Job Overview**:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Policy and Research to lead our organization's efforts in shaping policy, conducting research, and advancing our mission. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of Health and Continuing Care and a passion for driving change through research and advocacy.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Policy Development: Develop and lead the organization's policy development strategies, ensuring alignment with our mission and objectives. Provide expert guidance on legislative and regulatory matters and conduct thorough internal and external policy analysis.
- Research Leadership: Design and conduct policy research, studies, and surveys. Oversee the production of high-quality research reports and publications, and provide guidance to contractors, students, and researchers engaged in policy paper development.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans that promote the organization's policy priorities and set clear research and policy goals.
- Advocacy Initiatives: Lead advocacy campaigns to influence policymakers and stakeholders at all levels. Mobilize supporters to champion our policy positions.
- Legislative Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and provide insights on proposed legislation and policy developments affecting the Continuing Care Sector.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships to advance our policy agenda.
- Public Outreach: Represent the organization in public forums, conferences, and media appearances, effectively communicating research findings and policy positions.
- Budget Oversight: Manage the budget for the policy and research department, ensuring resource efficiency.
- Strategic Communications: Work with the conference planning committee to manage speaker requests, vetting them from a policy perspective, and contributing to the selection and confirmation process.
- Committee Participation and Government Relations: Participate in internal and external committees, representing the organization, and take the lead in drafting papers for government feedback requests, ensuring submissions are well-researched and reflect our stance and values.

**Qualifications**:

- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field (public policy, political science, economics) with a preference for specialization in healthcare, or equivalent work experience (5 years minimum).
- High-level communication skills and a proven track record in policy development, research, and advocacy in healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of legislative processes and government relations.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills with experience leading high-performing teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at conveying complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
- Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and budget management.

**Working Conditions**:

- Hybrid work environment, blending remote work with office-based activities at ACCA headquarters in Edmonton.
- Occasional in-person attendance for team meetings, event planning sessions, and site inspections.
- Flexibility in work hours, including availability for evening and weekend events as needed.

**Salary**: $100,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
