Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) is the Government of Alberta’s full-service communications, public relations and marketing agency.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Your role as Research Data Analyst will lead and support quantitative and qualitative research undertaken across Government, as part of the central public engagement and public opinion research unit with Communications and Public Engagement.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Research in Public Engagement, you are an expert in data and information analysis, with a deep understanding of quantitative and qualitative methods that support evidence-based decision-making. You will work closely with the Assistant Director of Research, Assistant Director of Public Engagement, with program staff across government, and with all CPE research vendors.

You will support information sharing and research development within the department, GoA, and with other departments and external agencies. You will play a key role in analyzing and sharing data, fostering an environment of innovation and research rigour, and building analytical capacity for the Government of Alberta.

Your job duties will include:

- Supporting the Assistant Director of Research in carrying out public opinion research on behalf of government. To do this, the analyst is required to bring a technical expertise to the role, combined with the ability to communicate results to non-research audiences, and a high-degree of political acumen.
- Providing rigorous statistical analysis of quantitative public opinion research data, and qualitative analysis of public engagement surveys.
- Supporting public engagement survey development.
- Establishing and contributing directly to analytical networks across GoA, supporting enhancement of public opinion research capacity in government.
- Developing research-based communication products.
- Developing dashboards to monitor and measure quantitative

**Qualifications**:
Minimum Requirements:

- University degree in a discipline related to research, political science and/or public policy
- Four years of progressively related experience in data and information analysis, including involvement with:

- Research design and methodology
- Survey theory & development
- Data collection and survey/questionnaire programs
- Software for statistical analysis
- Qualitative analysis (e.g., text analytics)

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
