**About Us**:
The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Branch provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provides various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Planning and Business Support, this position will offer you the opportunity to, assist senior and executive management with issues management by providing responses to action requests or other requests for information from the public, as well as other stakeholders. You will Undertake various short and long-term research assignments on government initiatives, issues, policies, programs, and services that affect court and resolution services in Alberta.

**Your responsibilities include, but not limited, are**:

- Conduct research and synthesize timely, accurate and complete information to support recommendations to senior and executive management, including the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, in the form of briefing notes, reports, policies or proposals.
- Support strategic and operational planning, including preparation of the division’s key reporting documents.
- Work collaboratively on committees with individuals from other divisions and/or departments, and/or stakeholders, in an advisory capacity.
- Use qualitative and quantitative research methodology to aid in information gathering and sharing.
- Identify symptoms, define problems, develop, and propose recommendations and alternatives that will increase operational effectiveness and/or support strategic planning.
- Participate in project coordination and initiative implementation within the division and other divisions within the Ministry and/or within other departments with the provincial government.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below
- Experience with research, as well as analyzing and evaluating information
- Experience providing recommendations and options to senior leadership and decision makers.
- Experience in designing, developing and leading the project.
- Experience with government correspondence and drafting briefing notes
- Experience working with and/or developing government policy
- Some experience/exposure to business planning and reporting
- Experience working with related legislation within the justice system

**Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of**:

- one year of education for one year of experience; or
- one year of experience for one year of education
