**About Us**:
Within the Data, Privacy and Innovation Division in Technology and Innovation, the Privacy, Policy, and Governance Branch enables government transparency and accountability through enterprise policy and program services for content management, data, technology, privacy, and access to information. The Branch also enhances the strategic capacity of the department and the integration of data, content, technology, and privacy initiatives across the Department. Core to this function is leadership on high-priority Department initiatives. The Branch provides strategic and proactive policy coordination and strategic engagement advice, planning and coordination to support Department priorities and business outcomes.

**The Strategic Policy Services unit has two core teams**:

- The Strategic Engagement Team is responsible for strategic engagement advice and services for Executive and Minister-level engagements, including intergovernmental and international relations.
- The Policy Coordination team is responsible for the strategic coordination of the department's policy and legislation files.

**Role**:
Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Engagement, the Policy Analyst is accountable for supporting the integration of strategic engagement across the Department. This includes supporting international and intergovernmental relations, research, and analysis, and working closely with program areas to advance department priorities.

The Policy Analyst has a critical role in supporting planning, analyzing, and making recommendations to the executives on engagements and intergovernmental and international relations. The position works closely with the Manager, Director, program areas, and Intergovernmental Relations to implement a strategic approach to the department's policy approval process. The Policy Analyst has a critical role in supporting mission planning and implementation. All work is conducted with the goal of ensuring the interests and priorities of the department are effectively represented.

Working in a highly collaborative and high-functioning branch, this position will be responsible for delivering on critical work for the department. The work will be fast-paced and require a high level of integration with partners in the branch and across the department and government.

To be successful in this role, this position must collaborate across the department and with other ministries to ensure support for executive level engagement and international and intergovernmental relations is comprehensive and aligned. The position must also have strong time-priority management and communication skills as the work often operates under tight timelines.

**Qualifications**:
**Required**:

- University graduation in a related field such as Business Administration, International/Intergovernmental Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration.
- 2 years of progressively responsible related experience working with legislation, program and policy management, intergovernmental/international relations, stakeholder engagement.

**Equivalencies**:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of current and emerging intergovernmental and international issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislation (Acts and Regulations), programs, policies, practices, and precedents governing policy and engagement.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement.
- Experience in project management.
- Experience in research, analysis, environmental scanning, and issues identification/management.
- Experience in preparing briefing materials, action requests, plans, policy packages meeting agendas, presentations.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills to convey complex information in a meaningful way to different levels of audience.
