**Payroll Manager, Payroll Services**:
**Required Position**:
Full-Time Appointment

**Responsibilities**:
This position works under the general direction of Financial Services. The Manager will oversee and manage the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for:

- Supervise, manage and co-ordinate activities of payroll staff to meet operational requirements;
- Foster an atmosphere where exceptional customer service is the standard;
- Lead and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in service delivery;
- Assists in establishing appropriate procedures regarding the request for information from employees, managers and external areas;
- Coordinate with HR to maintain payroll information in employee files;
- Authorize and transmit the total payroll deposit to the Royal Bank of Canada including the Group Registered Retirement Saving Plan (GRRSP) and Family Support associated with each pay;
- Draft proposal and implement changes and/or quality control measures leading to best practice operations.
- Comply with and stay informed of the changes that pertain to the legislations and employment standards act.
- Oversees and ensures timely distribution of time sheets, pay statements and paid hours reports;
- Authorize and review the preparation and filling of payroll taxes;
- Evaluate and analyze existing payroll policies, procedures and business processes;
- Authorize and review the preparation of benefits remittances including extended health, dental, life insurance, accidental disbursement and, group life;
- Prepare the pension upload and reconciliation in the pension system and all forms required for payments for various employee groups;
- Authorize and review the preparation of the group life insurance benefits including enrollment, coverage changes and termination, billing and reconciliation;
- Responds to external agencies such as Union, CRA, Family Support, garnishment, etc.

**Qualifications**:

- Post secondary degree or equivalent in Business Administration or Accounting;
- Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP), or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- One to three years of experience with full cycle payroll;
- Knowledge of computer systems and related software;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Knowledge of related Acts and legislation such as Employment Standards Acts;
- Experience in a public sector or broader public sector organizations would be an asset;
- Ability to work fluently, orally and in writing, in both official languages, English and French.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
