The Business and Marketing Intern will aid in serving as the point-of-contact for teaching staff and help manage Center operations, both with director assistance and independently, ensuring a high quality personal customer experience. Business and Marketing Intern meets with current and prospective families, and participates in community marketing including drop-ins and events to help grow the business.

Essential Job Functions
- Meets with new and current families to aid in the program sales process
- Attends Marketing events and supports in-center marketing efforts
- Monitors staff to ensure teachers deliver instruction as designed and that educational Center policies and procedures are followed
- Attends to immediate instructor needs, such as requests for materials
- Assists teachers with preparation for instruction; Gathers materials as appropriate
- Checks students in and out of the Center with particular attention to student safety and well-being
- Greets and assists students, parents, and potential customers according to Sylvan standards
- Opens and closes the Center according to procedures, securing all materials
- Fields inquiry calls, takes payments, updates schedules, and books appointments for Directors
- Makes outbound marketing, sales or other calls
- Escalates service or other issues that require Director intervention
- Visits schools or other businesses or organizations for partnership and marketing purposes

Qualifications:

- Must be in the process of obtaining a 4-year degree in Business, Marketing or other area directly relatable to the position
- Familiarity with instructional technology, iPads and computers
- Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
- Experience using social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) preferred

- Strong analytical, problem solving, and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
- Self-sufficiency in ownership of work and tasks
- Proven ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience
- Ability to work collaboratively; Strong team player
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule,including evenings and weekends of 6-10 hours per week
