**Description of the role**

The House Leader manages, coordinates, and supports the assistant team and the core members (individuals with developmental disabilities), and reports directly to the Homes Coordinator. The House Leader will share daily life with members of the home and ensuring adherence to the guidelines of the Ministry of Community & Social Services, to L’Arche Ottawa’s policies and procedures and to the role description. Normal schedule would include evenings, mornings, weekend and some holidays. The House Leader works in association with the house team and the coordinating team of L’Arche Ottawa. The House Leader is part of a dynamic team of six leaders of other homes and ensures house life is lived in community.
- Desire to live in community and ability to foster a vibrant life in the home, to celebrate the value of each person and to provide high quality care for them;
- Effective communication skills in English (oral and written);
- Creative problem solving and decision-making skills;
- Ability to anticipate and prioritize tasks, and manage change;
- Ability to build, supervise and support team members in all aspects of their role;
- Ability to plan and maintain household schedules, core member’s medical appointments and routines.
- Ability to address challenging behaviors and support persons in crisis with a positive and flexible approach;
- Administrative and computer literacy skills;

**Qualifications/ Requirements include**:

- Canadian high school diploma or equivalent;
- Experience supporting people with developmental disabilities;
- Strong leadership and group facilitation skills;
- Ideally supervisory experience;
- Current police check for the vulnerable sector;
- Minimum of 2 ½ years driving experience with insurance record (G Class).

**Compensation**:

- Level 3, Starting at $53,726.40 per year based on years’ experience;
