Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver (BBGV) is a non-profit organization providing mentoring programs for children and youth. BBGV's mission is to enable impactful relationships where children and youth can discover their power and potential.

The Game On Program is a group-based mentoring program led by adult mentors with a group of boys from Grades 4-7. The groups engage in fun physical activities and active play, as well as discussions about social-emotional health, life skills, and healthy eating and snacks. The Game On Programs are 8-week sessions running weekly for 90 minutes throughout the year.

The Game On Mentoring Coordinator is a key member of the program team and supports the Manager of Group Programs in all aspects of implementation of the Game On Program. They act as an agency wide point person for Game On Program planning and assists in the continued development and improvement of the program. In addition, this role facilitates training sessions, conducts volunteer screening assessments, and guides mentoring relationships for safety and support in the Big Brothers Community Program.

**A SNEAK PEEK AT THE GREAT THINGS YOU’LL BE DOING**
- Develop your leadership skills as you supervise and support Mentors and Mentees, and families in their mentoring relationships.
- Coordinate and run the Game On Programs in schools and community centres.
- Facilitate Game On Program mentorship and safety training.
- Maintain ongoing contact with all program participants to ensure accountability, support, and healthy relationships, where child safety is upheld.
- Assessment and screening of adult Mentor volunteers.
- Maintain accurate confidential file records, ensure that all required documentation is complete and in accordance to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada’s National Standards.
- Innovate and research for ongoing development and improvement of Game On
- Engage program participants in problem solving processes where required, and discuss concerns with your Supervisor.
- Provide program coverage support to other staff, as required.
- Attendance at evening and weekend events and activities that support community and relationship building between mentors, mentees, and staff, as required.

**YOU WILL LIKELY BRING**

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree or 2 year diploma in social work, child and youth care, psychology or other related field (Health Sciences, Human Kinetics, Fitness, Recreation). **This is a mandatory qualification as required by the National Standards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada.**
- Relevant experience in the social services and community services sector with children, youth, and families; preferably related to mentoring.
- Experience working within a community service or school-based environment.
- A valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for this position.

**Skills**
- Knowledge of mentoring theory, principles, and practices
- Knowledge of child safety and child abuse prevention practices
- Strong relationship building and communication skills to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and community agencies and organizations.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Solid group facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong organization and time management skills to maintain accurate file management.
- Excellent problem solving ability and resourcefulness.
- Demonstrated abilities using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database experience, experience with Microsoft Dynamics (SDP) an asset.

**Additional Information**

**Job Type**: Permanent, Full-time

**Salary**: $45,900 to $46,200 annual

Schedule: Monday to Friday. 35 hours per week (7 hours/day) between the hours of 9am and 6pm, depending on program times. Occasional evening work to 8pm (4-6 times/year) or weekend work (4-6 times/year) for client training or community events.

Work Location: In person at program sites or office and hybrid at home
