**Tenant Services Worker**
**Summary**
Sacajawea Non-Profit Housing Incorporated provides safe, affordable housing to homeless and at risk of homeless Indigenous people. The Tenant Services Worker shall work in conjunction with Sacajawea staff in outreach to vulnerable families and individuals, as well as program delivery, planning with tenants, cultural education, facilitating social interaction and community integration, and linking with other appropriate community services. The Tenant Services Worker will also focus on eviction prevention and housing stabilization across the residential portfolio and works collaboratively with Sacajawea staff.
**Job Duties**
- Maintains close contact with tenants on an individual and group basis to ensure they maintain their housing.
- Communicates with tenants regarding rent related issues and develops repayment plans where required.
- Ensures timely collection and accurate tracking of rent and arrears and other charges.
- Refers tenants to appropriate external services and programs as required
- Facilitates group meetings, and uses conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills to mediate disputes between parties when necessary.
- Alongside management, follows Landlord & Tenant Board procedures as required.
- Assists with filling vacancies, answers telephone inquiries, maintains informal interest list system, and refers applicants to other housing where applicable.
- Assists with processing and maintaining up to date lease agreements.
- Assists with administering Annual Rent Reviews.
- Collects and maintains Annual Rent Review documentation.
- Maintains tenant files, including lease agreements and other unit-specific records.
- Promote and support traditional teachings and practices for the tenants
- Engages in collaborative community partnerships to promote traditional healing, cultural teachings and practice
- Ensure that accurate program and client records are maintained, and that confidentiality is a priority
- Attend meetings with external agencies to facilitate effective collaborative efforts.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for tenants, visitors, and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- Post-secondary qualifications in Human Services Counselling or related field
- Knowledge of community and social services
- Demonstrated culture sensitivity and knowledge of Indigenous culture
- Ability to operate within the principles of the Seven Grandfather Teachings and the House First philosophy
- Excellent communications skills, especially verbal and written, and an ability to communicate messages in a professional and engaging manner
- Exceptional organizational abilities and time management skills, as well as the ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize
- Computer skills and excellent knowledge of MS Office programs and desktop publishing programs.
- Valid Drivers License and reliable vehicle with $1,00,000 liability insurance.
- Valid CPR and first aid certificate or willingness to obtain both.
- Clear vulnerable sector check.
$60,000 salary (benefits after 3-month probation period)
37.5 hours per week with some evening and weekend hours
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
