Reporting to the Competence Director, the Continuing Competence Program (CCP) Lead is responsible for instructional design, development, coordination, and facilitation of programs within the competence department. The CCP Lead supports the Competence Director in developing and implementing policies, processes, and programs for the CCP and granting authorizations under the Health Professions Act (HPA) and the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians Profession Regulation.

**Key responsibilities**

**Program design and development**
- Execute the instructional design and development of learning activities, education modules, and tools within the CCP, including the Practice Improvement Program (PIP).
- Coordinate the ongoing evaluation and quality improvement of learning activities, education modules, and tools within the CCP to ensure relevance, validity, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with the Assessment Developer to develop:

- assessment frameworks for the CCP;
- assessment frameworks for granting authorizations (e.g., administer drugs by injection); and
- training for coaches, assessors, and others involved in the administration of assessments and learning activities within the CCP and education programs.

**Program coordination and facilitation**
- Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of learning activities, education modules, and assessment activities of the CCP, including PIP (e.g., webinars and workshops).
- Recruit, train, and coach assessors, coaches, and others executing the CCP.
- Establish professional and trusting relationships with registrants, providing constructive feedback when needed and supporting their practice improvement.

**Other**
- Collaborate with external parties, as appropriate, in instructional design and program facilitation processes.
- Prepare reports and correspondence for the Competence Director in relation to the assessment frameworks and learning activities of the CCP and education programs.
- Prepare environmental scans, literature reviews, and analysis as required by the competence director.
- Research, analyze, and draft competency frameworks and policies and procedures for granting authorizations.
- Act as a resource to competence and contracted assessors as required.
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications & experience**
- Relevant graduate or undergraduate degree (e.g., Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D); Specialization in Adult, Community and Higher Education; Health Sciences Education).
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
- Two to three years’ experience in an adult educator role that involves program design, facilitation, and coordination.
- Two to three years’ experience that involves coaching, influencing, and leadership.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word and Excel, and virtual communication and collaboration platforms (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom).

Experience in
- creating and implementing learning activities and educational programs;
- developing, presenting, and facilitating group training sessions;
- evaluation and assessment of competencies for professionals;
- implementing and maintaining quality improvement processes for program administration; and
- coaching and directing individuals through assessment and remediation processes.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
