**Salary**: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561- $90,011 /year)

The Ministry of Indigenous Relations works with Indigenous communities, the federal government, industry and other stakeholders to support strong, vibrant Indigenous communities and people who fully participate in a prosperous, competitive and diverse Alberta. The ministry is also responsible for:

- Promoting social and economic opportunities for Indigenous Peoples
- Co-leading Indigenous training for all Alberta public servants
- Working with other ministries to develop opportunities for Indigenous Peoples to influence land and resource management decisions.

The First Nations and Métis Relations division consists of the First Nations Relations, Métis Relations. The positions being recruited to are for the First Nations Relations branch.

First Nations Relations builds government-to-government relationships with First Nations, which are formalized through protocol agreements that provide a framework for continued collaboration between the provincial government and First Nations in Alberta.

The branch also provides advice and specialized knowledge to provincial departments, federal and municipal governments and industry, and participates in cross-ministry strategies affecting First Nations people.

First Nations Relations is also responsible for economic development initiatives across the department and administers grants like the First Nations Development Fund grant program. The branch builds partnerships between Indigenous communities, organizations, industry, other levels of government and non-Indigenous organizations to enhance the participation of Indigenous Peoples in the economy, through the administration of programs in economic development, and oversight of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation.

**Role Responsibilities**:
Join our team as an Indigenous Program Coordinator and play a pivotal role in fostering reconciliation initiatives within Alberta Indigenous communities. Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Programs, you will serve as the primary liaison for field involvement, representing Alberta Indigenous Relations in the Indigenous Reconciliation Initiative and other vital projects. Your contributions will directly impact the Minister's mandate to advise and support Indigenous communities, promoting their prosperity and sustainability in a diverse Alberta.

**Responsibilities Includes**:
**1. Building and Maintaining Relationships**:

- Collaborate with external partners and Elders to support reconciliation initiatives.
- Represent Indigenous perspectives and divisional priorities in project coordination.
- Assist in media announcements and releases, ensuring effective communication.
- Monitor current issues and provide senior management with briefing materials.

**2. Policy Development and Maintenance**:

- Identify and develop program policies and procedures.
- Participate in the evaluation and improvement of program policies.
- Coordinate feedback from reviews and assessments.
- Interpret policies and respond to stakeholder queries.

**3. Review of Reconciliation Initiatives**:

- Address concerns related to program intent.
- Monitor preparation of approval packages for Minister sign-off.

**4. Project Progress Monitoring**:

- Track deliverables to ensure grant compliance.
- Evaluate deliverables to maintain quality standards.
- Monitor project status and communicate deadlines. Assist communities with reporting and accounting requirements.**APS Competencies**:
