**Location**

Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton. This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person.

**Position Summary**

The Alberta School of Business (ASB) seeks to provide our students with opportunities to complement their classroom learning with valuable work integrated and experiential learning opportunities. The Work Integrated Learning Programs Lead (WILPL) plays a key role in this vision by contributing to the strategic oversight of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) programs, including our growing Co-operative Education and MBA Internship programs, as well as identifying new and innovative WIL offerings. Reporting to the Manager, Careers and Work Integrated Learning (CWIL), their responsibilities include supervision of WIL Coordinator(s) and a co-op student, as well as providing operational guidance to WIL Officers. This includes contributing towards the vision of WIL programs in the ASB, as part of larger CWIL team, the development and refinement of program policies, and resource needs identification. In addition, the WILPL will maintain a portfolio of WIL student clients, and participate in relationship building with employers and community partners.

In addition, the WIL Programs Lead will work closely with campus WIL and career services delivery partners to ensure that the student experience is maximized through collaboration, non duplication of service, and active engagement in knowledge sharing.

**Duties**

**Strategic Planning, Leadership and Reporting**:

- Develops and implements strategies, including technology tools, to facilitate growth and delivery of existing WIL programs and propose new WIL initiatives and/or programs for potential development.
- Ensures program policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practices and alignment with University of Alberta risk management and EDI guidelines.
- Works with WIL programs staff to ensure robust strategic planning related to ensure creation and maintenance of resources for employers and career education and professional development offerings for students.
- Establishes clear performance expectations for individuals under direct supervision (Co-op Coordinator(s) and Co-op student). Contributes towards regular performance evaluation for all WIL staff.
- Recognizes and discusses staff conflict with CWIL Manager, takes steps to address issues by mediating with involved parties, and refers for escalation as appropriate.
- Plans, implements and generates assessment documents and statistics reports on area activities, including providing information as requested for CWIL annual report

**Co-operative Education Specific Activities**:

- Acts as the initial escalation point for issues related to Co-op employers or students, Co-op program policies, WKEXP course administration, admissions, and program transfers. Determines escalation to CWIL Manager, as required.
- Collaborates on setting Co-op program objectives, policies and procedures related to growth and operations, and ensures regular reporting on program outcomes.
- Works to establish and maintain co-op student and employer recognition awards or events.
- Facilitates and conducts formal assessments for a portfolio of students by managing on-site meetings, assessing work term reports and employer evaluations. Makes recommendations to students to enhance performance and strive for continual improvement throughout the work term.
