- As the Chief People Officer you will be as an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team supporting the Chief in leading the Service. You will be responsible for the Bureau of People & Organizational Development which comprises of three divisions: Learning & Recruitment Division, Human Resources Division and Wellness and Culture Division. These areas will support Employee Services, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Human Rights, Labour Relations, People Strategy & Performance, Talent Acquisition, Chief Crowfoot Learning Centre, Wellness, and Workforce Planning. Main duties and responsibilities include:

- Provide strategic guidance, organizational leadership, and direction.
- Implement and execute complex police initiatives and support innovation to identify new areas for reform and modernization.
- Lead and sponsor key bodies of work that address the myriad of challenges facing policing organizations and the Service.
- Champion a healthy, professional work environment through accountability measures, wellness initiatives, and professional development opportunities for civilian and sworn Members.
- Assist the Chief of Police in the implementation of the Calgary Police Commissions priorities and objectives and ensure that programs under their command develop strategies to achieve the Service’s goals and objectives along with measurable outcomes and metrics that assist in evaluating the effectiveness of those strategies.
- Ensure that day-to-day management decisions are consistent with the Service’s mission statement, goals, objectives, strategies, core values and competencies, as well as Calgary Police Commissions policies and directions to the Chief and will ensure that the Service’s vision is clearly communicated throughout their area of responsibility with an emphasis on maintaining public trust and the principles of community policing.
- Ensure that diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are prioritized across the Service including in recruitment, hiring, promotion, career development opportunities, training, and the administration of discipline, playing a leadership role in making the Service the police employer of choice in Canada.

**Qualifications**
***
- Undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field of study combined with at least 10 years of progressively senior and diverse leadership experience; including at least 5 years at an executive leadership level.
- Extensive knowledge of labour relations, collective bargaining, occupational health and safety with a particular understanding of equity, diversity and human rights challenges in a large organization.
- A high level of familiarity with governance, risk management, public administration, and policy development.
- A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field will be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires outstanding communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to maintain genuine and meaningful partnerships with internal and external partner groups.
- A highly respected, credible, and inspirational leader committed to the ongoing professionalization of the Service to respond to the evolving nature of policing, including through succession planning and the development of future leaders.

**Pre-employment Requirements**A security clearance will be conducted.
