Reporting to the Director, HR Employee Labour Relations & Compensation, and working closely with the Manager, Total Rewards, you will join a progressive, dynamic and collaborative team of Human Resource “HR” professionals. HR supports a large employee base of over 5,000 employees and 5 unions across three hospital sites and off-site programs within the Halton Region. Human Resources at Halton Healthcare is currently undergoing a period of transformation from process change to system enhancement. This provides an opportunity for HR team members to contribute to an evolving service delivery model including participating in technology and process refresh, and implementation.

**This is what you’ll be doing**:

- Responsible for a full range of transactional HR accountabilities ensuring compliance with hospital policies, collective agreements and benefit/pension plans as well as accuracy of entry into the applicable HR systems
- Acts as the primary contact, responding to inquiries from clients including employees and departments on issues related to new hire onboarding, benefits, compensation, internal transfers, and departing the organization.
- The Associate may assist with other aspects of transactional activities as required based on volumes. Review of new hire packages to ensure compliance with policies, regulations and/or professional college requirements, completion of criminal background and reference checks, health clearance with the hospital’s Health, Safety & Wellness checklist and verification of eligibility to work in Canada
- Timeliness and accuracy of entering new employees into the HR system, ensuring accurate benefit coverage, pension and/or other deductions, and flow to other systems or areas such as security, parking, IT and payroll.
- Engagement with new employees to ensure new hire documentation is complete to facilitate a smooth and timely onboarding into the organization in conjunction with the program
- Provides advice and guidance on Halton Healthcare program information for both managers and employees on a variety of topics such as benefit plans, pension administration, leaves of absence, employee perks/services, and other human resources policies and procedures.
- Process employee transfers ensuring compliance with policies and collective agreements escalating to Labour Relations as required
- Identifies seniority, service, vacation, pay and benefit impacts based on employee, role and applicable collective agreement or policies related to internal transfers.
- Enrolls and terminates employees in the applicable benefit and pension plans and in the applicable systems as required noting compliance with the programs
- Supports programs and employees with questions as they relate to statutory leaves and other leaves permitted under our policies or collective agreements
- Escalates complex issues to specialty areas of HR such as compensation, benefits, labour relations, health, safety and wellness, recruitment and organizational development after completing a full review of the issue and documenting what is understood to be next steps
- Process change documents such as employee demographics, benefit enrolment and transfers ensuring appropriate documentation and accuracy of entry
- Support high volume transactions related to recruitment such as Extern and Nursing Graduate Guarantee hiring
- Assists with HR related tasks as assigned such as audits, data cleanup, communications, and testing for system changes
