**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the South Island Director of Operations or designate, the Coordinator, Administrative Services South Island is responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, provision and management of administrative support staff for an assigned geographical area.

The Coordinator leads identified projects, proposes new initiatives, and contributes to all aspects of the programs' strategic plans, including development of policies and procedures and liaises with other Island Health stakeholders. The Coordinator leads a strong and cohesive team to ensure the effective provision of efficient business and administrative functionality throughout Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) department.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a diploma in Public or Business Administration plus 5 years' recent administrative experience at a demonstrated level of responsibility which includes no less than two years' supervisory experience in an office environment. Progressive experience in project management is an asset.

- Demonstrated organization, leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and teambuilding skills in complex and highly changeable situations.
- Demonstrated project management skills including understanding of group process and experience resolving complex multi-stakeholder issues.
- Ability to integrate administrative, clinical, professional and operational aspects of programs and projects in an effective and efficient manner
- Excellent knowledge of issues affecting MHSU clients in all areas of service delivery, clinical assessment, treatment and organizational structures.
- Knowledge of approaches to IM/IT development that ensures compliance with established standards within and across large health-care delivery systems.
- Knowledge of functional programming protocols and health facility capital planning and project management processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to set and maintain priorities, work under pressure and be results oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels within the organization and with external agencies and the public.
- Demonstrates a welcoming, empathetic and hopeful attitude with respect to persons.
- Ability to act with tact and diplomacy under the work pressures of time and pace.
- Thorough knowledge of office management systems and a clear understanding of the interrelationship between administration and the applicable program.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of expert professional, clinical, technical, business and administrative staff.
