**The salary range for this position is**:
- **Recruitment range: $72,242- $79,650** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- **Performance range: starting salary to max of $93,951** is available through annual performance increases.
- Job Summary**Mandate**:
Reporting to the Team Lead, Digital Community, the Training and Communications Officer is responsible for the development and delivery of campus-wide IT training and communication on University Systems services. This role will develop communications strategies for University Systems; draft and edit communications sent from University Systems to faculty, staff, and students; develop training plans for new or changed IT services provided by University Systems; create and deliver synchronous and asynchronous training to students, faculty, and staff.
**Objectives**:
- Proactive support for students, faculty, and staff including:
- Develop and deliver IT training programs IT support staff and end users
- Documentation and process mapping for support services
- Create and update websites and rich media
- Share and communicate training opportunities delivered by University Systems, service providers at UVic, and through IT partners
- Participates in and encourages engagement with online communities of practice to help foster the use of IT services supported by University Systems
- Work with University Systems leaders to write and edit client communications such as new system implementations, changes, and outages
- Write and edit internal communications, articles, documents, and content for websites, newsletters/reports, and other publications
- Implement and manage a digital media plan to engage UVic students, faculty, and staff
- Manages small projects
Due to the critical, time-sensitive nature of the services delivered by University Systems, this position may require you to work outside of normal working hours in an emergency or pre-scheduled basis.
- Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to an undergraduate degree in a technical, training or teaching, or communications related field, plus 5 years of working across a large partner group to provide support in relevant large public sector organization. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

- Knowledge and awareness of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging considerations and practices as they relate to communications materials and training delivery.
- Experience writing technical documentation for IT support staff and plain language user documentation for a non-technical audience.
- Experience using content management systems (CMS).
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs for diverse audiences with ranging IT knowledge and skills.
- Ability to communicate data or information through graphics or rich media (example infographics, social media posts, short videos).
- Experience managing social media accounts and ability to work with campus partners to create and deliver social media content.
