**Position Summary**:
The Faculty of Social Work (FSW) at the University of Regina prepares students for critical generalist social work practice with diverse peoples through education, research, and community practice. Informed by the principles of indigenization, sustainability, and social justice, the social work program encourages students to identify the needs of the disadvantaged, marginalized and oppressed. The FSW supports students in developing the commitment, knowledge, values, attitudes, and skills required to confront structural inequalities and to empower individuals, families, and communities to realize their full potential. To best serve Saskatchewan’s diverse population, the FSW offers the full Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs at its Regina and Saskatoon Campuses.
This position reports to the Faculty Administrator and is located in Regina, SK. Working in a collaborative, team environment, this position coordinates Social Work Student Service operations in academic advising, student records, registration, program planning and partnerships, communications and marketing.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Review student records for University and Faculty academic actions when necessary;
- Strategic program planning, new programs and partnerships, and maintenance of the Faculty of Social Work section of the Undergraduate Calendar;
- Formulates and consults on retention initiatives that are developed and assessed;
- Provides mentorship and guidance to other academic advisors and student service staff in the Faculty;
- Serves as the Faculty’s primary contact for partner program service and administration;
- Coordinates processes in the areas of student service and advising;
- Plans and hosts student information sessions;
- Develop recruitment and marketing materials, set up and oversee career fairs and other Faculty events;
- Develops and implements various administrative policies and procedures;
- Manages and participates in projects including yearly, competitive program admission;
- Takes on a leadership role with regard to student communications and publications, and program policy development;
- Leads the Student Services team on implementing new systems;
- Assess transfer credit, letters of permission, graduation files;
- Represent the Faculty through active participation in university committees concerning advising. Serve as a liaison with other offices and departments as needed;
- Ensures the student portion of the FSW website is accurate and up to date; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
**Position Requirements**:
- University degree supplemented with a minimum of three years’ of administrative and academic advising experience, preferably in a University environment. An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered.
- Working knowledge of theories related to at least one of the following: leadership, advising, student learning and development, retention, policy and program development.
- Knowledge of undergraduate university admission; program admission; registration, attendance, evaluation, discipline, and appeals processes; convocation, financial aid, and transcript evaluation processes; academic terms;
- Knowledge of the University of Regina’s administrative structure, various Faculties, programs, departments and units and services they provide;
- Knowledge of undergraduate programs to advise students in making informed decisions about their program requirements where multiple options of course selection exist, some of which due to the student’s unique circumstances are external to the U of R;
- Experience working with diverse populations, including people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, with a demonstrated commitment to supporting the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently in a team environment;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Demonstrated positive, collaborative attitudes, and team-working skills;
- Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while managing workload and modelling desired behaviour towards others;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally with respectful, inclusive, and supportive interaction;
- Demonstrated business writing and public speaking/facilitation skills;
- Knowledge of faculty committees and approval processes;
- Knowledge of Scholarships and Awards, financial aid with the university, and Canada-Saskatchewan Integrated Student Loan Programs.
