**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Acting Director of Public Health Resources, the Public Health Informatics Advisor is responsible for providing leadership and support to digital initiatives within Halton Region Public Health. Such initiatives may vary in scale from modification and updating of existing systems, to implementation of entirely new systems. The role involves guiding digital projects through all stages of the project life cycle, including initial scoping, development and prioritization of requirements, and ultimately to successful implementation through effective change management.

The Public Health Informatics Advisor will engage and liaise with key stakeholders within Halton Region to ensure the Halton Region Public Health is well positioned to move forward with Halton’s Digital Strategy and is achieving outcomes outlined in Halton’s Corporate Strategic Plan. The Public Health Informatics Advisor will also provide Public Health representation on corporate-led projects and initiatives and provide ongoing quality improvement, project management and change management of Halton Region Public Health’s digital systems and databases to meet our requirements under the Ontario Public Health Standards.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Assists the Health Department Management Team, program managers, and other relevant stakeholders with developing strategies to implement, monitor and evaluate the Digital Strategy and related initiatives within Public Health by providing advice, guidance and recommendations.
- Collaborates with partners across the organization, especially Digital & Information Services. Represents the Department on Digital & Information Technology related committees, enterprise-wide projects and at other meetings, serving as the main point of contact for Public Health digital initiatives.
- Aids in the development of capacity for Public Health staff to work in new digital environments and systems.
- Ensures digital/data systems are designed in a way that meet reporting requirements under the Ontario Public Health Standards, maintain privacy, and for Ministry compliance.
- Provides project management support for identified priority initiatives, utilizing project management methodology to run projects on time, on budget and within scope.
- Implements change management principles and methods with teams as part of the digital transformation process.
- Provides ongoing quality improvement support of the Department’s digital systems and databases.
- Identifies and recommends changes to records management practices, resolves records management issues and reviews related legislation.
- Prepares and maintains digital health documentation, including process mapping, for new and existing technology solutions.
- Collaborates with program staff, epidemiologists, and data analysts to support creation of dashboards for monitoring and evaluating program performance, as well as surveillance and communication to the public.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with professionals in related organizations to ensure Halton Public Health stays current on the latest trends, knowledge and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- A master’s degree in Health Informatics, Health Information Science, Health Information Management, e-Health, or a health-related discipline with relevant experience in informatics or data science.
- Three (3) years’ recent related experience in a public health setting, including two (2) years’ focused experience in health informatics or data systems.
- The ability to build and maintain highly effective working relationships with staff, senior management, internal and external partners.
