**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Capital Design and Development, this position is responsible for managing facilities capital projects and supervising a team of project managers/coordinators.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Manage numerous facilities capital projects under the direction of the Manager, Facilities Capital Design and Development
- Prepare technical reports and staff reports
- Ensure the full involvement of client divisions/departments in the implementation of their projects
- Recommend, engage, direct, and supervise consulting engineers and architects for the design and contract administration of construction and renovation of Regional facilities; engages speciality consultants to confirm that the projects are constructed in conformance with the contracts
- Procure, direct and supervise contractors for the construction, renovations, upgrades and demolitions of Regional facilities
- Exercise effective cost, schedule and quality control of Capital Projects
- Ensure that the works are constructed in compliance with the contract documents and Halton’s Health and Safety Policies
- Provide full project management throughout all project phases (project initiation, planning, execution, performance/control and close-out)
- Negotiate and resolves claims and disputes from outside providers
- Provide customer service excellence in project delivery
- Responsible for supervising, mentoring, and training a team of project managers and project coordinators
- Perform other duties, as assigned

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- A degree or diploma in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Project Management with a strong background in Project Management
- Minimum of 6-10 years of project and construction experience in a public organization
- Experience delivering complex capital projects within a set schedule and budget, as well as expert planning, analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with strong facilitation, negotiation and dispute resolution skills are required to interface with multiple stakeholders including regional staff, residents, contractors, and consultants
- Knowledge of evolving technologies, architecture, municipal/regional facilities operations, in-depth technical engineering and construction knowledge and be familiar with relevant standards, documentation and legislation
- Demonstrated experience with team work, public tendering processes and contract administration

**Preferred**
- Experience leading/supervising staff
- PMP and LEED certification, or equivalent

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
