**JOB OVERVIEW**

The People and culture Generalist reports to the Director, People and Culture and provides expertise in the areas of recruitment and selection, assists with payroll processing and benefits administration, maintains employee data and records, provides employee relations support, assists with department projects, facilitates learning and development opportunities and supports the HR department and Company initiatives.

**MAIN JOB DUTIES**

1. Recruitment, Onboarding and Offboarding:

- Responsible for full-cycle recruitment; including assisting with writing job descriptions, preparing advertisements, posting, resume screening, coordinating and conducting interviews, reference checks and preparing job offers.
- Coordinates new hire orientation.
- Coordinates offboarding process.

2. Human Resources Metrics and Reporting:

- Assists with the analysis of HR data, metrics and information to foster business insights and guide decision making.

3. Payroll and time and attendance management:

- Assist in processing payroll.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate employee data in systems to facilitate Payroll.
- Liaises with payroll vendor and payroll consultant to trouble shoot payroll issues.
- Supports time and attendance tracking activities and communication.

4. Administrator for Group and Company Benefits plans:

- Is the main company contact for Group Health benefits plans.
- Answers employee queries regarding group health and company benefits plans and policies

5. Learning and Development:

- Participates in the development and execution of company learning and development strategies.
- Coordinates company learning and development events, lunch and learns.
- Employee course registration.

6. Labor and employee relations:

- Manages WCB claims and return to work programs.
- Meets with managers and employees to address and manage return to work programs.
- Deals with employee relations issues as required.

7. Employee Engagement:

- Keeps employees informed about employment issues: Responds to general employee inquiries, conducts investigations and provides advice on risk and action
- Participants in the Company Social Committee: Plans and executes company and social events including lunch and learns, training and development, company special and social events.
- Facilitates external learning and development opportunities: research Learning and Development training and related books and resources.
- Develops and posts content to keep employees informed and engaged in Company events and newsworthy information.

8. Assists in research, development, implementation and reviewal of HR related projects.

9. Maintains employee data and records.

10. Support office administration and perform other ad hoc assignments and projects as assigned.

11. Participates in the Company Health and Safety committee.

**SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS**
- 4-5 years of related experience in functional areas of HR
- Post-secondary education or diploma in Human Resources or related education
- Prior experience in research, development and implementation of HR Projects
- Prior experience in payroll, specifically using Ceridian Dayforce and or Powerpay
- Clear understanding of Provincial employment standards and legislation
- Knowledge of employee relations practices

Working towards CPHR designation considered an asset
