**McMurray Métis Local 1935 exists to pursue the advancement of the Métis people of Fort McMurray and Northeastern Alberta.**

**We are looking for an experienced Cultural Programs Coordinator in Fort McMurray, Alberta, to successfully organize, host and deliver various programs for all ages and backgrounds.**

Some of the responsibilities are coordinating MML 1935 community programs and experiences. Develop and facilitate traditional programming for Members and the public.

This role will also build trusting working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of programming.

The successful applicant must have experience mentoring others, knowledge of traditional Métis culture, high energy, and strong interpersonal skills.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Develop and coordinate programs for Members and the public focusing on Métis Culture and values.
- Plan and execute workshops and experiences, from artisan work and traditional knowledge to traditional food and preservation.
- Host guest instructors and classes for various age groups and interests.
- Support the programming and activities for various internal and external events.
- Organize supplies in storage rooms and outdoor units.
- Create and maintain entry data of participation, a list of contractors such as artisans, instructors, and vendors.
- Develop a database of artifacts for exhibition and programming.
- Provide classes and project reports as required.
- Other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Certificate or Degree in Education, History, Arts & Cultural Management, or equivalency
- Over four years of experience instructing and mentoring
- **Knowledge and experience of traditional Métis culture and history**

- Strong organization and task management
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Able to multi-task and prioritize
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong collaborative and teamwork approach

**PHYSICAL & DOCUMENTS REQUIRED**
- Flexible schedule, including early mornings, late nights, and weekend work.
- This position may include lifting supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- A Vulnerable Criminal Sector Check
