**Program Supervisor** at YMCA of Northern Alberta creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing effective supervision and leadership in directing the overall delivery of all Programs and services in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Key elements of this position include the supervision and direction of staff, volunteers, development, and coordination of youth, adult, senior, recreation and wellness programming. The supervisor is accountable to their staff team as a whole, volunteers, the public for successful program delivery, and the association task group wherein the supervisor is a member.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, supervise and manage all full-time and part-time staff and volunteers within the program areas. Complete necessary onboarding paperwork in a timely manner. Ensure staff’s orientation and training; both starting and reoccurring are completed. Present strong customer service skills when interacting with patrons of the Centre.
- Provide feedback/recognition to staff members regularly, including evaluations and working with People and Culture for any disciplinary actions when necessary. Maintain up to date tracking of certificates and awards of staff. Ensure the YMCA’s standards are followed by staff and volunteers at all times, and promptly address any situation in which they are not.
- Create schedule for staff and volunteers, handle necessary payroll duties, ensuring staff and volunteers’ record time in the electronic database.
- Develop and maintain relationships with staff, volunteers and members, act as a role model in how you interact and communicate with the team and colleagues of all levels with the YMCA. Ensure staff, volunteers and members are following YMCA standards.
- Active supervision of all participants during programs, supervising instructors and ensure their performance meets expectations.
- Coordinate and facilitate the operations of all programs and services for members by managing statistics, meet targets for program registration, track attendance and cancellations for programs and audit programs for quality assurance.
- Participate in association wide day camp development and programming including training, brochures, scheduling, and other duties as assigned by work group, ensure compliance with Alberta Camping Association Guidelines while operating day camps
- Manage within an approved budget for programs, deal with suppliers for equipment and products, submit expenses to accounting within the month of accruing the expense.
- Ensure all safety documents are completed accurately, all sign-in and out procedures for parents are followed, and staff is following head counts and maintaining ratios.
- Comply with the Centre’s emergency response and procedures by; ensuring staff and volunteers are trained accordingly, participating in an annual review of emergency procedures, take action as needed to ensure a safe work environment for staff and volunteers.
- Consistently represent YMCA’s values and mission, encourage a healthy lifestyle, participation of others by helping out by their respective means, enrich the quality of programs and services, promote YMCA as a charity according to YMCA SAM Standards Document.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of personal and organizational information in all administrative and program support duties by using information for its direct purpose only.
- Know and reviews all emergency procedures, follows all guidelines from Risk Management and Health & Safety including but not limited to, Work Alone Policy and Procedures and the Children, Youth and Vulnerable Adults Protection Policies and Procedures.
**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:
- University Degree in Humanities related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 1-year supervisory experience
- Experience in executing community programs.
- Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check.
- Must obtain employer specific WHIMIS and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
