**Administrative/Program Assistant**

**Salary**: $18/hour + 4% Vacation
**Hours of Work**: 30 hrs weekly with the ability to work flexible hours
**Start Date**: Jun 26, 2024 - Aug 29, 2024

**Position Overview**: Chebucto Connections helps residents in the lower income community of Spryfield participate in community life by identifying and attracting resources that will improve their overall health and well-being. We serve as a community hub to address a range of social needs including at-risk youth programming and food insecurity. This position will play in integral part in the everyday operations of Chebucto Connections.

This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs and is open to individuals between 15-30 years old. The applicant must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_ and is legally entitled to work in Nova Scotia.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience working with community or social service organizations an asset
- Combination of education and experience
- Computer proficiency is required, particularly Excel
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to thoughtfully and effectively communicate with staff, volunteers and the public
- Knowledge of community and social service resources that support the community in accessing food support is an asset

- Understanding of the strengths, capacities, challenges and barriers faced by those struggling to meet their core needs;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team setting
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a manner that preserves confidentiality, dignity and well-being
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills

**Job Duties**
- Supporting the everyday operations of Chebucto Connections the Admin Assistant tasks will include:

- Assist with the planning and coordination of the Food Market
- Assist with Market set up and tear down
- Create and update price list on Square
- Manage Market Sales including end of day reconciliation
- Create and maintain relationships with outside businesses and organizations to deal with excess food from the Market
- Identify opportunities to be more efficient
- Create posters and other marketing material for upcoming events
- Administer surveys to other agencies and those accessing food support
- Support community members to help access our programming and connect them with other supports in the community
- Answer phone and greet visitors
- Work independently and with staff to maintain security and clean up
- Maintain and implement organizational policies
