Nature of the Work:

- The principal and customary work of the employee in the employment class consists in performing a variety of administrative duties in accordance with established methods and procedures.
- The duties and responsibilities of the Library Circulation Clerk are coordinated through the Administration Technician for the Circulation Area.**Responsibilities**:
- Provide courteous and prompt support to student and faculty patrons of the library
- Attend circulation desk and answer information inquiries
- Assist patrons with the use of equipment: photocopiers, printers, laptops, audio recorders, DVD players, print charging, and transfer stations
- Contact patrons for overdue materials, using MIO or phone
- Circulate books, films, and other library materials according to the appropriate circulation policies as established for the various item types, patron categories, and time of day
- Empty material return boxes, check in and re-sensitize returned materials, place them on book trucks in call number order for re-shelving or in established orders on the Reserves and VHS/DVD shelves
- Ensure the pick-up, sorting, shelving, and filing of library materials and equipment
- Perform library closing tasks ever evening: announce upcoming Library closure on internal PA system 15 minutes before closing, empty the cash box and secure cash and other valuables in locked safe, ensure all returned materials are appropriately checked in, close windows on Library balcony, assist Librarian in ensuring all patrons are exiting the Library, close Library entrance blinds, announce on internal PA system that the Library is closed for the evening, securely shut down all equipment and close Koha Staff Client, record patron entrance/exit statistics for the day, ensure Library is securely locked at the end of each day
- Use Koha Staff Client (integrated Library System) to conduct all tasks related to circulation
- Use the Clara management system to accomplish tasks, such as collecting fines and removing students from defaulters list
- Ensure functioning of various equipment used in library, installing proper supplied as required (e.g., photocopier, printers, and print balance transfer process)
- Re-shelve returned library materials and participate in shelf-reading, as required
- Assist in other areas of Student Services at the request of the supervisor
- Perform any other related tasks

**Length of the contract**: January 2023 to June 2, 2023

**Requirements**:

- Qualifications:

- To have a diploma of vocational studies (DEP) in an appropriate specialty or a secondary school diploma (DES) or have a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
- Conditions:
- Advanced oral and written English communication skills (testing may be required)
- Basic oral French communication skills (testing may be required)
- Ability to work will with the public
- Basic Microsoft Outlook skills (testing may be required)
- Basic computer software skills
