The Education and Communication Coordinator leads projects to improve upon or involving the relationship between the organizations and managing the employee requirements of learners at SJHH. The Education and Communication Coordinator leads and executes coordinated, strategic, creative and timely communications, with a focus on internal and external communications that builds engagement and enhances the culture and values of St. Joe’s. The Education and Communication Coordinator will also be cross-trained in simulations and provide guidance on virtual reality (VR) simulations.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- College diploma (3-year) in a related field required
- Undergraduate Degree preferred
- Minimum two years relevant experience in an academic health sciences centre
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; creative writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical, planning and organizational skills essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and manage tight deadlines with a positive attitude.
- Must be comfortable working with team members and partners across various levels of the organization, including health professionals, researchers and administrators.
- Excellent networking, research and analytical skills are required
- Must demonstrate comfort with digital technologies (digital newsletters, simple design programs, simple website work, electronic meeting rooms such as Teams, presentation programs such as PowerPoint)
- Must be able to work well both independently and as a part of a team
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Provide oversight to learner administration and partner with the University/College teams to provide advocacy for learners at St. Joe’s
- Works collaboratively with the VP Education, Executive Education Committee, SJHH Staff, and other educational organizations for learner’s needs and enhancing SJHH as a premier educational partner
- Provide direction and support for undergraduate and postgraduate clinical and non-clinical learners and ensuring the SJHH educational mandate is achieved.
- Cross-trained in onboarding of learners (NIRVSystem) and education/training requirements
- Provide support to Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs
- Staff are encouraged to participate in activities with other organizations and with the community in promoting SJHH as a leader in education.
- Provide support to the Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs in enhancing partnership with academic organizations and with SJHH staff through operationalizing initiatives/ideas that arise.
- Be a collaborative and positive representative of SJHH in learner matters.
- Assist with projects involving physicians/residents and medical learners.
- Assist with projects involving nursing, clinical and non-clinical learners.
- Collaborates and works with the Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs in ensuring learners are onboarded and collaborations between SJHH and academic institutions are maintained.
- Collaborate closely with the Manager of Learning and Instructional Design to coordinate learner training initiatives
- Develops proactive communications and change management campaigns focused on internal and external audiences
- Stays abreast of the most current and progressive communication practices to determine new, engaging, and effective methods and tools to communicate to multiple internal audiences
- Works with Public Affairs team, Audio Visual Team, and Foundation to coordinate cohesive communication plans to support brand and reputation of DEL
- Leads, coordinates and supports communication to inform, engage and helps to achieve the goals of DEL’s strategic plan
- Working with DEL team to determine priorities and order of projects for communications
- Supports equity, diversity and inclusion in all communication projects
- Communication projects may entail enlisting the help of multiple vendors and will require ability to support Requests for Proposals/quotes, ensuring time-dependent delivery of materials and distribution of those materials, as well as appropriate branding
- Work with the Digital Solutions Service Desk team to address technical issues during the onboarding process.
