**Position Summary**

The purpose of the position is to be KFN’s provider of Human Resource Management expertise and guidance. The Nation is using an external HR consulting firm and is looking to transition to an in-house position and hope to fill it with a person with 5 years of HR and management experience.

The HR Manager will report to the Chief Administrative Officer CAO but will work closely with both the Director of Intergovernmental Relations (DIGR) and the Elected Chief and Council of the Nation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Advising senior staff with HR matters and requesting legal or other professional advice when needed.
- Supporting management with conflict resolution, progressive discipline, human rights, and accommodations and disability management.
- Providing long term planning for KFN HR services including further reducing dependanece on third party firms.
- Organizing and maintaining human resources SharePoint files, including electronic personnel files in coordination with the finance department.
- Scheduling meetings for HR related functions
- Maintaining the KFN wage ranges and conduct market research when needed.
- Answering employee HR related questions and assisting filling out forms
- Serve in an advisory capacity to the OH&S Committee
- Disseminating information and news such as policy changes, benefits updates, training opportunities, classification and compensation updates, etc., to all departments as requested by the CAO.
- Onboarding of new staff, including drafting employment contracts collection of Employee data, HR orientation. Much of this in collaboration with the finance department.
- Developing and maintaining KFN HR policies and procedures alongside leadership with external input and advise.
- Working with managers and directors on the completion of performance reviews of department staff.

- The ability to establish working relationships with staff, Council, and a variety of governments, groups, knowledge keepers and/or Elders, and other stakeholders

- Sound judgment and decision-making
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness withthorough knowledge of the current First Nations governance landscape in BC and knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to First Nations in Canada
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
- Knowledge of federal and provincial labour laws
- Familiarity with using printers, scanners, projectors, conference room systems, speakers, and mics

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree with a Human Resource Management concentration required.
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) certification.
- 5 years of experience working in a Human Resource role.
- Experience working in and with the Indigenous organizations is asset.

The performance statements provided in the job description allow for the development of goals and objectives, performance standards, or work plans that will be assessed in the annual performance evaluation of the Human Resources Manager.

Pay: $80,000.00-$92,000.00 per year
