Our Land and Resource Program team is a dynamic, two-year-old branch-level team focused on wildfire risk reduction and cultural and prescribed fire projects within BC Parks. You’ll join a group of forest and biology professionals that includes a Section Head, four Land and Resource Coordinators, and four seasonal Technicians. Together, we work closely with regional BC Parks staff and the BC Wildfire Service to enhance wildfire resilience across the province. We’re a dedicated and collaborative team that values diverse perspectives and strives for meaningful impact on the landscape.
**The Role**
As a Land and Resource Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in planning, preparing, and delivering wildfire resiliency projects across BC Parks. From high-level planning to hands-on site work, you’ll manage everything from fire and fuel management plans to prescribed fire projects. This is a unique opportunity to travel to the most beautiful areas in our province, work with a high-level professional team, and make a real impact both within and beyond BC Parks borders.
**Qualifications**:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in a natural resource related field AND 2 years of related experience; **OR** diploma in a natural resource related field AND 3 years related experience.
- Coursework in project management
- Experience managing multiple projects OR leading a component (e.g., sub-project) of a major project.
- Experience managing relationships with stakeholders OR leading engagement.
- Experience in conflict AND dispute resolution principles and practices.
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s licence.
Preferences:
- Preference may be given to those recognized as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC).
- Preference may be given to applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- Contract management
- Course work in procurement
- Fuel management
- Ecosystem restoration; and/or
- Prescribed fire
