**The Opportunity**
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Human Resources, the Human Resources Advisor is an integral member of Courtenay’s Human Resources team, delivering proactive HR expertise to departments across the organization. The incumbent in this position thrives in overseeing a diverse portfolio and appreciates the significance of organizational and political acumen as a municipal government professional.

The HR Advisor promotes effective relationships, provides guidance on HR issues, and contributes to a service-oriented environment through sound judgment and HR knowledge. cognize the significance of organizational and political acumen in the role of a public-sector HR professional.
- Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management or related discipline; or diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations or related discipline; CPHR designation is an asset.
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in an HR generalist or advisory role within a unionized environment, preferably in municipal or public sector settings.
- A combination of experience and education in a related field may be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR and labour relations practices, employment law, and collective agreement administration.
- Comprehensive experience with job classification systems, ideally within a unionized setting.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of implementing job classification systems, particularly in unionized settings
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- High level of professionalism, with discretion, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment in all matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS software, with experience in data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to deliver employee training and build effective relationships with internal and external partners
- High level of confidentiality and professional discretion.

**ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS**
- Satisfactory BC Class 5 driver’s license
- Consent to a Canadian Police Information Check

This is a full-time position; start date to be determined. Salary: $89,724 - $101,959 (Pay Band 5).

The HR Advisor will work primarily in an office setting, collaborating closely with the HR team, City staff, union representatives, and external agencies. This role requires strict confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to City policies and collective agreements.
