Organizational Overview
An international organization of women religious, the mission of the Sisters of Charity is to give joyful witness to love, especially to those most in need. Some members of the Sisters of Charity reside at Caritas Residence, a retirement community overlooking the beautiful Bedford Basin in Halifax, N.S. Caritas Residence provides a comfortable and peaceful retirement community within a picturesque, park-like setting on the grounds near the former Sisters of Charity Motherhouse and adjacent to Mount Saint Vincent University campus. Caritas Residence is managed facility and provides independent, assisted living, and long term care to other religious women, and lay men and women.

Role Overview

Summary Duties
The main goal of this role is to support the Coordinator’s team in fulfilling the needs and wellness of the Sisters residing at Caritas Residence. Duties may include and are not limited to the following:
Office Administration
- Provide accurate and efficient administrative functions.
- Prepare and manage schedules for volunteers.
- Communicate with finance on payroll and expense reports.
- Prepare written documents with accuracy.
- Manage filing systems.
- Manage office supplies and orders.
- Assist with planning and organizing feast days and special celebrations.
- Assist with administrative tasks of funeral arrangements.

Technical Support
- Be the technology support and lead person for the Sisters living at Caritas.
- Oversee the selection and purchasing of computers / electronic devices for Sisters.
- Support and troubleshoot basic computer technical issues that arise.
- Provide basic technology training and support for Sisters.
- Set-up community meetings with technology resources.

Support Team
- Be a presence for all Sisters at Caritas.
- Be an advocate, listener, liaison and supporter of the Sisters’ needs.
- Be a companion to Sisters (i.e. at Caritas, to Emergency, out shopping and during religious and leisure activities).
- Be available to drive Sisters and run errands when needed.
- Be the Sisters of Charity Emergency contact when scheduled on-call.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s Degree, with 3-5 years experience in a related field in health promotion, social science, gerontology, or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Exchange, Zoom and overall technology competency.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and provide a clean drivers abstract.
- Ability to provide a current police and vulnerable sector background check.
- Ability to provide proof of full vaccination for COVID-19.
