**Position summary**

**Duties**
- Processes admission decisions in Graduate Studies Management Solution (GSMS). Calculates
- Admission Grade Point Average (AGPA) from institutions around the world, converting to the U of A grading system, using standardized weighted average conversion methods. Conducts admissions reporting, including collecting and analyzing data to inform decision making processes.
- Monitors program completion progress for students and identifies potential issues.
- Identifies and refers students at risk. Coaches students to identify problems and possible strategies and resources.
- Advises students and applicants of their rights and process under the Code of Student (or Applicant).
- Behavior, referring all affected students to the Ombudservice.
- Manages issues related to graduate students, their supervision and committees, and their programs.
- Organizes and/or supports graduate orientations, convocations and ongoing workshops as required.
- With the Academic Department Manager and/or Assistant Department Manager, establishes and monitors the graduate program budget and makes recommendations on GRA/GTA assignments.
- Performs HR activities as needed for all graduate appointments.
- Conducts continuing student reporting, including collecting and analyzing data to inform decision making processes.
- Maintains student records as required by FOIPP and University record retention policies. Creates and updates various forms for student records purposes.
- Interprets and communicates calendar regulations.
- Provide support to department graduate committees and maintain regular contact with central units such as Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR), Dean of Students, University of Alberta International (UAI), etc.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- 2-year diploma required.
- Minimum of two years related experience, particularly in a post-secondary environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated intercultural understanding are required.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of University of Alberta policies and procedures is preferred.

**Preferred Qualification**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
