**Working for the Department/Faculty
The University of Alberta is home to North America’s only freestanding Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. We provide academic training in Rehabilitation Science, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology. Our researchers lead their field in areas such as spinal cord injury, mental health, robotics, language development, and the impacts of COVID-19.

**Position
The Academic Advisors within the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine provide the foundational academic and student support services necessary for the functioning of the Faculty’s graduate programs in Rehabilitation Science (MScRS, PhDRS), professional programs (MScOT, MScPT, and MScSLP), and continuing professional education programs. The Academic Advisors work independently under the general direction of the Manager, Academic Services. They will provide a service orientation to the departments, programs, and students that the Academic Services unit serves.

The primary responsibilities of the Academic Advisors fall under the categories of admissions, student advisory services, academic program support, awards, recruitment and orientation.

**Duties**

Admissions:

- Administers the admissions processes in the FRM based on a solid understanding of the various requirements of the graduate, professional and continuing education programs.
- Responds to inquiries from potential applicants and applicants, and advises on requirements, eligibility and admission processes
- Coordinates admissions committees including scheduling, preparation of materials, recording minutes, preparing reports.
- Processes refused admissions
- Maintains Admissions database, student files and prepares admission and enrollment statistics

Student Advisory Services:

- Advises students: assists students with admissions processes, registration, immigration, student status, withdrawals, examinations, timetables, transcripts, curriculum updates and awards competitions.
- Counsels applicants and students on program requirements.
- Corresponds with successful applicants regarding scheduling, registration, housing, scholarships etc.
- Advises students regarding accessibility and accommodation resources.
- Assists with course withdrawal forms, add/delete forms, deferred exam requests, change of grade forms, etc.
- Assists with registering students in courses that are closed to web registration.

Academic Program Support:

- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of eClass courses in the Learning Management System (LMS.)
- Provides faculty members with assistance with the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Assists with uploading course content to LMS sites and downloading content to archives.
- Assists with the development of timetables and enters data into Peoplesoft and CelCat.
- Coordinates creation of course packs, including maintaining copyright logs.
- Liaises with faculty regarding course materials and book lists for each academic term.
- Liaises with sessional and guest lecturers regarding room bookings, course materials and eClass set up. Tracks and communicates course information concerning room bookings, examinations, cancellations.
- Coordinates the exam process including proofing/printing, exam keys, sending exams for optical scoring, and receipt of returned exam/scoring.
