**Position Summary**:
The Research Manager implements and executes FNHA health and wellness priorities by conducting holistic research, gathering and analyzing information and data for the purpose of accurate and confident decision-making to support the strategic goals of the organization. This position provides strategic leadership, expertise and advice to the Executive and key stakeholders. Oversees a small research team with the aim of creating a research unit that will be successful in securing grant funds for research projects working with both internal and external partners.

**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**

**Responsibilities**:

- Leads the process of resolving complex research problems after obtaining multi-level inputs and buy-in from multiple stakeholders including researchers within FNHA, the management team, regions and First Nations communities
- Leads the process of evaluating potential new external research projects and/or partnerships
- Contributes to FNHA research communications and knowledge management, and participates in organization-wide events and discussions on related health and wellness topics/projects
- Manages the overall approach, designs and implementation of medium to large scale research initiatives
- Liaises with program and research staff working across PPCS to carry out research and build research capacity within FNHA
- Actively seeks out funding and granting opportunities to support research projects
- Provides advice and support in research design and methodologies based on best practices in community settings that are relevant and aligned to First Nations culture and traditions
- Defines the scope and structure of research projects and develops data analysis and knowledge dissemination plans

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- A Ph.D. in health services research with a focus on Indigenous people’s health and wellbeing or in a health related specialty area such as in the social sciences, population/public health, epidemiology, or related disciplines.
- A Master’s degree may also be considered.

**Experience**
- Significant, recent and relevant experience (6-8 years or more) providing strategic leadership and overseeing a small team of researchers, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of qualitative and quantitative research, report and publication writing and experience writing manuscripts for publication
- Knowledge of population-based preventive and treatment interventions is highly desirable
- Recent and relevant experience in an Aboriginal or indigenous setting an asset
- Recent and relevant experience with public health and policy research is an asset
- Experience in knowledge translation and presentation to communities, clinicians, researchers, and decision-makers is highly desirable

**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:

- Comprehensive understanding of current health issues and the healthcare system in British Columbia
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
