**HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER - STIHL LIMITED**

**CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Continuously review the effectiveness of existing policies and programs and recommend changes as necessary to ensure legislative compliance and support business strategy, vision and mission, and core values.
- Develop, implement and administer approved HR policies and programs to effectively manage all aspects of the employment relationship including recruitment, hiring, training, attendance, performance, health and safety, training and development, career progression, and conflict resolution.
- Develop working relationships with all team members to encourage openness and trust with the HR function and foster two-way dialogue when issues arise.
- Handle any day-to-day HR related issues with empathy and discretion.
- Act as a sounding board for all HR issues, ensuring that team members are treated fairly and advocate without bias with knowledge derived from day-to-day interactions.
- Administer the company’s payroll and deal with any team member concerns, special requests etc. on a timely basis
- Remain current with and ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation (Federal and Provincial).
- Review company benefits programs on a regular basis. Negotiate annual rate increases in partnership with AON. Work with AON and go to market every 3-5 years to ensure our benefits are cost effective and in line with what is competitive in the market.
- Establish, monitor and enforce health and safety policies, programs and procedures that meet or exceed legislative requirements and internal standards
- Develop, coach and manage the activities of the Human Resources Coordinator
- Provide guidance and support to Department Heads in interpreting and administering HR policies and programs.
- Provide coaching and guidance to Department Heads and Supervisors with respect to performance management and employee relations issues.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure proper documentation of all employees.
- Protect the confidentiality of all employee data in accordance with the Privacy Legislation and internal standards.
- Execute assigned elements of the strategic plan as directed
- Conduct external market compensation reviews ensuring we are externally competitive and internally equitable.
- Ensure our hiring practices meet all legislative requirements and adjust as necessary
- Complete Annual Plan relating to all Human Resources activities
- Monitor Overtime ensuring that it is in line with planned targets set for each department
- Keep up to date with employment legislation across Canada such as the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights code, WHMIS, etc.
- Ensure all required/legislated training has been completed across Canada on an annual basis
- Responsible for all claim management activities related to STD, LTD, WSIB claims and return to work plans

**SKILLS, REQUIRMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary degree / diploma in Human Resources Management
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRL) strongly encouraged
- 5+ years experience at a management level in Human Resources
- Excellent knowledge of all employment legislation across Canada such as the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights code, WHMIS, etc.
- Ability to confidently and assertively provide input on all company HR issues
- Certification in Health and Safety practices an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint specifically)
- Strong organizational skills
