The Research Navigator will be assigned as a resource for CHEO RI researchers and their teams to help navigate the complex landscape of research. The Research Navigator will provide knowledge and support to ensure regulatory compliance, support industry budget negotiations, facilitate Research Ethics Board (REB) submissions, support human resources requirements, assist with contracts and work to support the team as needed.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Research Navigator will:

- Act as a resource for researchers and research staff navigating the CHEO RI research study start up process.
- Support and provide guidance to new researchers establishing a research program.
- Provide guidance and assist researchers and research staff with the submission of research agreements, REB submissions, and Health Canada submissions.
- Liaise with internal departments and research cores on behalf of the researchers and research staff to ensure project moves forward efficiently.
- Assist in the review and negotiation of budgets on behalf of the researchers and institute.
- Ensure researchers have the required infrastructure in place prior to clinical trial start up to meet Good Clinical Practice (GCP) using the site feasibility and qualification standard operating procedure.
- Support the Quality Assurance Office and researchers in the event of a regulatory inspection or audit.
- Support the RareKids-CAN Pediatric Rare Disease Clinical Trials and Treatment Network to build child/family-centric research, clinical trials, and education capabilities with a focus on rare diseases.
- Monitor and support CHEO RI’s Institutional Approval Program.
- Coordinate data collection locally to support quality improvement and performance metric initiatives to capture study start up timelines, and other measures of success.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL, AND ABILITIES**
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences or a related field (required)
- Master’s degree in health sciences or a related field (preferred)
- Knowledge of managing clinical trials (both investigator initiated and industry lead) (required)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working as a Research Coordinator (required)
- Experience in working collaboratively with research teams and multi-disciplinary and/or multi-institutional research projects at the provincial and national agencies (required)
- Strong technical skills (Microsoft 365) (required)
- Strong working knowledge of CHEO Research Institute and REB Policies and Procedures (preferred)
- Exceptional knowledge of GCP and the regulated landscape for clinical research (required)
- Experience in fostering effective communication within and among groups (required)
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to work independently (required)
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills (required)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (required)
- Very strong editing and proofreading skills (required)
- Experience in using REDCap, project management software (preferred)
- Bilingualism (English/French) (preferred)
