Job Summary

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor, Research Contracts to provide expert advice and support to researchers in the development of research contracts and agreements. This is a key role that requires strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex research projects and partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and review complex research contracts with diverse sponsors, analyzing and interpreting terms and conditions to ensure compliance with university policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and support to researchers and internal stakeholders in the development of contract research, including identifying and mitigating risk exposure.
  • Collaborate with funding agencies, sponsors, and partners to negotiate complex agreements and contracts, ensuring alignment with university goals and objectives.
  • Assess and improve the success rate of research contracts, identifying opportunities for growth and development.
  • Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions to support researchers in contract research and agreement development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of research support opportunities and academia.
  • Excellent knowledge of research strategies and methodologies, as well as experience developing and managing research agreements and activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create, maintain, and build relationships and partnerships within the University and externally.
  • Excellent bilingual writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities and meet strict deadlines, with a strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
